Kelvin was great to work with. When he called to say he was on his way, he offered to pick me up a coffee! Not many people out there doing that. Kelvin was patient with, listened, and genuinely cared. Cared about understanding our needs and cared about providing the best experience he could. He was very thorough too. The garage door tech Craig Clark was amazing! He was trustworthy, patient, professional, and kind! He did a thorough diagnostic check of my garage door opener, asked if I had any additional concerns, showed options he had available, and answered all of my questions. Craig never pressured me to buy anything, and I was pleased and confident with my purchases by the time he left. Paul did a great job of troubleshooting our problem due to a nearby lightening strike. After replacing the door opener unit, he also found our springs and rollers to be pretty worn out. He took the time to explain how everything worked and made sure everything was working properly before he left. He even checked out and lubed our 2nd garage door. Very thorough, very much appreciated.

Paul went above and beyond with both of his visits today. (First was diagnosing my issue, second was to install a new motor—same day!) Wonderful experience! Our garage door came partly off its track and was stuck slightly open with a car trapped inside. Get your garage doors serviced regularly! We learned the hard way unfortunately when the springs and cables on our garage door broke after years of neglect (Who thinks of these things until they break right?)Chuck from A1 was over about 12 hours after I called for an appointment! He was very personable, efficient, and knowledgeable. Before he even arrived he introduced himself via reminder text with a picture, name, and listed a few hobbies. I wish all service techs did this! It’s always a little unnerving to have strangers in your home so I was grateful for the effort he placed in putting people at ease.The service process was very easy. Chuck showed up, examined the door and then talked to us about pricing and options. He explained everything very clearly and thoroughly which was much appreciated because I know exactly nothing about garage doors. After completing the initial work, he pointed out a couple other things that should be fixed and got our approval before fixing those parts as well. While it’s never pleasant to hear there’s even more that needs to be done, I did appreciate him catching those things before I have to call again in a panic 6 months from now. All the parts we needed were on his truck. The whole thing took less than two hours.Having something big in your home break is never a pleasant experience, but A1 was the best possible outcome and I am very pleased with the service we received. I bought a new house recently and soon found that it had a beat-up garage door that wouldn't close consistently.I also had a really tough situation where I was traveling abroad, leaving on a Monday, and really needed the garage door working consistency for the safety of my family and my peace of mind.Mike came out on a Friday morning, and after walking me through his assessment, I decided it would be best to replace the door, rather than investing in short-term fixes that wouldn't really address the problem long-term.Mike was cheerful and compassionate as he called tons of installers and suppliers, arranged for someone to drive to Detroit to get the door, and personally came with installers (one of whom was his brother) on a Saturday morning, uncompensated.Everyone I talked to was exceptionally thorough as well as clear, and direct about what was the issue and what my options were. There were no hidden fees, everything was priced out including tax and labor so that I could make my decision.You might be able to get a less expensive door somewhere else. But I think it would be extremely hard to find a company that trains their employees so exceptionally well, and who's employees interact with customers with such exceptional kindness and compassion.

Ron was great. Friendly, professional and thorough. It was an unpleasant surprise that the second door was $72, not $30, and that with the “trip charge”, the total was about $140. I failed to read the fine print. I just assumed the second door would be the same as the first. Ron explained it to me before proceeding, It left a bad taste nonetheless. Not Ron’s fault. I should have asked when I made the appointment and/or your phone rep could have explained the details when I made the appointment.

I highly recommend A1 - they've saved my day today. My garage door spring snapped, trapping my car. I couldn't open it manually. Jerry was excellent. He was quick and knowledgeable, and he didn’t try to sell me up on a lot of extras. I enjoyed chatting with him while he worked. Regarding the cost, I know everything is expensive these days, but this gave me some serious sticker shock. In addition to the new springs, it turned out that my lifting cables and brackets were dangerously rusted. I doubt if those parts cost any more than $25 retail, but it was $267 to have them installed. I simply don’t understand that. Jerry did apply a military discount, which I appreciated.

We had a garage door spring snap on our garage. We called A1 and they were able to get someone out the next day.Paul arrived a few minutes before his estimated time and got right to diagnosing the issue. He showed me that other than the snapped spring, there’d were numerous other issues that needed to be addressed, mainly some fraying cables and a bent bar that the springs mounted to. He explained the importance of replacing these parts, and then explained how replacing some other parts would lead to smoother and quieter operation. On my own I figured that smoother and quieter probably also mean longer lasting. We decided to replace most of the recommended parts, and Paul got right to work.In sub-20 degree temperatures he worked nonstop for nearly three hours. After finishing up he showed me all of the changes, demonstrated how well the door functions now, and showed me how badly frayed one of the cables was and explained how one of these snapping can cause damage to vehicles, other parts of the house, or worse yet injure someone.I was impressed with the speed and thoroughness of the service that A1 provided.As a side note, Paul was great. He was personable and friendly. I enjoyed speaking to him quite a bit. I couldn’t have asked for a better installer.I recommend A1 to anyone that needs garage door work.

Jerry arrived promptly and was very courteous. He inspected the door and motor. He kindly and patiently instructed me on how to fix the rope from manual mode to motor mode due to two pieces that came apart. He also showed me how to rotate the laser so the door can close automatically without holding the button down. For safety, Jerry installed an extra support piece to the door. I was totally satisfied with the work performed on my garage door. The technician arrived timely, installed a new metal attachment to the bottom of my door, and installed a new rubber liner on the bottom of it. He adjusted the door and performed maintenance on it, so it now closes more quietly, and it is now snug fitting to the concrete floor. He also explained future work that may be needed at some point. I will definitely call A1 Garage for my future maintenance needs.

My entire experience with A1 was fantastic from the moment the automated phone system answered. (Have you called it? I’ve never heard one so cheerful!) Michelle answered and was so helpful and friendly. She scheduled me for the next day. Then I got a call from the local dispatcher (?) to see if I could meet today in the later afternoon. That worked, so I met Paul at our house. Paul was very kind and professional, and did such a great job explaining what would have to happen to *fix* the doors we currently have, and the difference in cost and life expectancy to replace them. After taking some measurements and pictures, Paul got Sam on the phone to talk pricing. Sam was very helpful and did a great job explaining some options to me. I’m certain that when we have the doors replaced, we will experience the same level of amazing customer service that we’ve seen so far. A1 has been so great to work with so far! Craig was awesome. He explained everything he was doing and going to do. He was friendly and professional. I picked out a door talked with a sales rep but upon talking about my current door, Isaac explained there was really nothing wrong with my door. It needed repair and some maintenance. He fixed what someone else did wrong. He saved me a lot of money. This speaks volumes to me about the kind of company A1 is also. Classy!! Respect of what I needed not what they could sell me. Although my 78 year old garage needed more than the quick fix I was hoping for, Paul did an excellent job of making me feel confident and comfortable with the purchase, which is something I’ve NEVER experienced with another contractor of any kind. Wasn't sure which garage business I wanted to use but I saw the A-1 Garage Door commercial and it pertained to the problem I had with the rubber strip at the bottom of the door. Really impressed with A1's service - our garage door motor failed and majorly damaged our door. I picked A1 based on the positive reviews in my area and loved that I was able to schedule online and give them information beforehand. There were even same-day appointments available. I received a text saying our tech, Paul J was coming, and they sent over a photo for safety as well. I also received a call from Paul when he was on his way. Paul was patient with all of my questions and gave us solutions within minutes. Unfortunately we needed an entire new door, but within half an hour he had taken measurements, gave us instructions on how to deal with the current broken door in the interim and found the door we wanted in stock. The sales tech jumped on the call quickly and went through all of our options with us - they even waited for my husband to finish up in a meeting so that he could join us. We were able to grab a Saturday install date of the same week as the visit, which we did not expect. Not a fun thing to be told you need an entirely new garage door, but Paul made everything easy to understand and we trust that we're getting the right solution for us at a reasonable price with a quick turnaround time.

Molly at the call center was friendly, efficient, and personable. She was able to schedule a technician visit for two days after my call. Before his arrival, Jerry texted his picture along with letting me know to expect him in about 20 minutes. He was right on time, courteous, outgoing, knowledgeable, and completed a new torsion spring installation in less than an hour. He gave me some tips on keeping the safety light beam aligned, lubricating the door rollers and drive chain, and adjusting the up/down settings on the door opener. She arranged for a work crew to arrive first thing the next morning.Equally impressed with the technician that serviced my garage door. ‘’My garage door opener broke and I needed a technician asap. A1 was very responsive to my concerns and worked around my schedule to fit the job in as quickly as possible. I was very happy with A1, and especially with our most friendly and skilled A1 technician Craig Clark. Our garage door was not operating correctly and it was bitterly cold outside. Craig came, assessed the door system and made the necessary repair. He also explained to me the mechanics of what was causing the door to not close properly, which I appreciated. This was late in the afternoon, and I learned that Craig had finished his last job of the day and was heading home when he heard the dispatch call asking if any technician could help us. Everyone that I talked to knew nothing until they found out the paperwork was never submitted just today. Them was told I would receive a call from the door Dept to set up a install possibly Friday 4th of March. Still no call and then called back then was informed had to be contacted from original tech before door installation could be set up. Nothing but a complete waste of my time and money. I missed out on work because I was promised an installation date of March 3rd. Furthermore the company was quick to take my money and since then very very poor customer service!!!!! Now was told that the tech will call me at 8AM March 3rd. It seems like all I have gotten is the run around. Was transferred to the door dept and no one to take the call. My initial part of the review was from the time while the tech was here on the original visit. Since then I would not recommend this company to family or friends EXTREMELY VERY DISAPPOINTED AND DISSATISFIED!!!!!!

On 02/25/22 my garage door tract had a piece break.
