Chuck came during time frame scheduled, letting me know when he was on his way. Very polite. He was very knowledgeable about the old door I have. Chuck listened to my concerns and Didn't try to over sell me on something I didn't need but found the best solution to what I needed while staying in my budget. Very pleased with the work done.

We have two garage doors for our two-car garage. On Feb 17 a very old extension type of spring (runs parallel to the door track) broke on one side of the garage door. A1 was contacted around noon and by around 2:30 Craig Clark arrived. He did a thorough inspection of all the parts and installation of both garage doors. Craig showed us how both doors and installation were old, installed poorly originally and it was just a matter of time before more broke and possible injury or property damage. We already knew the setup was old and poorly done but weren’t really aware of just how bad things were.He showed me how much it was going to be to remove the extension type springs on one door and replace them with a newer and safer torsion spring. It seemed expensive but that’s probably at least because I’ve never had to have garage doors serviced before. Craig also covered what it would be to have both doors’ springs replaced and finally what the whole replacement (doors, tracks, springs, etc.) would cost. There was some salesman type of presentation from Craig but we already knew our just shy of forty year old installation was going to just be a bandage fix and we’d be chasing one repair after another if we didn’t address it sooner than later.After spending roughly 90-120 minutes replacing the immediate problem spring setup Craig then spent approximately another hour with us helping us make informed decisions on a full new set of doors and equipment. We ordered the new hardware and installation for both doors that same evening. Craig was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly.Fast forward a month and Matthew Brady is scheduled to install the newly arrived doors, springs, etc. He called ahead and let us know what time he would arrive and he arrived when he said he would. He arrived by himself, stated he estimated it’d be probably 5-6 hour’s worth of work. He removed all the old hardware (except door opener and its accessories) and installed it all in just about six hours. He did a ton of fix it work to clean up the shoddy original install. He installed new wood framing around both doors. He installed new hanging materials for the door openers since they were swaying from the prior installation. Matthew was also very professional, knowledgeable and friendly.I hope I don’t have to buy anything else garage door related soon but if I do then I’ll be calling A1 again.

Craig Clark did an outstanding job of installing a new garage door opener and its related control panels for me. In addition, he also synchronized it to my car so I could open and close the door with the button in my car.

Paul and Josh were courteous, very thorough, and clearly explained everything they saw and took the appropriate actions to fix my door. They answered all my questions and everything is working great. It would’ve been easy for them to leave after the first thing they fixed but they stayed and were diligent in making sure everything about my door operation was up to the right standard.

Chuck came out within 24 hours of me scheduling the appointment, arriving on time. He made quick work of the initial repair (broken cable) and then diagnosed the springs as being undersized by previous installer (not A1 Garage Door Service). He set me up on a nice pay-over-time plan, replaced the springs with the correct ones quickly. Door is now super easy to open with one hand and the power door opener doesn't buck and strain to open it. Chuck has probably added years to the life of my opener, and my back as well lol! Great job - would hire again if ever needed.

I was very impressed with the technician Kelvin Young who installed my new garage door motor and updated my spring and rollers! He was both knowledgeable and extremely patient with my lack of technical knowledge of which I was so appreciative. He walked me the through everything! Called A-1 this morning, broken springs on garage door , was able to get a appointment immediately due to a cancellation. Service Technician Chuck arrived on time and completed spring , cable , bearing assy replacement in a timely manner . Also replaced bottom door seal. He had the necessary parts with him . The cost seemed high but apparently that’s the market costs for these type of repairs . Chuck was very professional and knowledgeable and thorough in the repair .

I had Kelvin Young provide my annual garage door maintenance today and he was absolutely outstanding. Not only was he friendly and competent but surprisingly conscientious, actively looking for places he could improve the performance of my garage door, such as tightening the support brackets and adding a surge protector to the operating unit. Furthermore, he wasn’t trying to gouge me for every possible nickel, either, noting that my door spring would probably need replacing in another year but felt it would be okay for now. I’m very glad I chose to use A1 and recommend them highly.

We had a great experience with Kelvin. The spring in our garage snapped late on a Friday night. I figured I wouldn’t be able to even talk to someone about it until the next day but A1 was open. Kelvin was at our house first thing in the morning. He was incredibly friendly (even knocking gently in case people were asleep) and informative, walking me through different options. By 10am everything was fixed and he also had given the rest of the door a quick tune-up and helped me install an app to remote open the door that I didn’t know our opener had available. That has to have been the smoothest home repair I’ve ever seen. Much appreciated Kelvin!

Stephen was absolutely amazing I could not have been more blessed this Holiday season. My old door opener that was 26 years old bit the dust and Stephen walked me through 3 different systems so that I could make the best decision. He also found that the company that put in new springs put in the wrong type and that there was a safety concern with weight. He ended up fixing that as well. When he was finished with install he walked me through how everything works. This was truly an amazing experience and am glad I chose A1.

My tech was Craig Clark, who did a fantastic job. Not only did Craig call ahead, he had all the parts and tools ready to go and my door fixed incredibly quickly. Very knowledgeable as well, identified a few issues I wasn't even aware of, fixed those as a matter of course, and gave me some tips to keep it running smooth as well. Highly recommend Craig and A1. Hello, Matthew's customer service was great but the flap at the bottom of the door did get stuck in the tracks on the side twice when we tested the door and set off the sensor causing the door to go back up a couple times although this has not happened again since we tested it and hopefully won't unfortunately it was dark after the door was installed so I was not able to clearly examine it but after doing so this morning did notice a small dent in the middle of the door. Please see the attached photo. Is this something that can be fixed? Thanks!!

Paul did a great job of troubleshooting our problem due to a nearby lightening strike. After replacing the door opener unit, he also found our springs and rollers to be pretty worn out. Get your garage doors serviced regularly! We learned the hard way unfortunately when the springs and cables on our garage door broke after years of neglect (Who thinks of these things until they break right?)Chuck from A1 was over about 12 hours after I called for an appointment! He was very personable, efficient, and knowledgeable. Before he even arrived he introduced himself via reminder text with a picture, name, and listed a few hobbies. I wish all service techs did this! It’s always a little unnerving to have strangers in your home so I was grateful for the effort he placed in putting people at ease.The service process was very easy. Chuck showed up, examined the door and then talked to us about pricing and options. He explained everything very clearly and thoroughly which was much appreciated because I know exactly nothing about garage doors. After completing the initial work, he pointed out a couple other things that should be fixed and got our approval before fixing those parts as well. While it’s never pleasant to hear there’s even more that needs to be done, I did appreciate him catching those things before I have to call again in a panic 6 months from now. All the parts we needed were on his truck. The whole thing took less than two hours.Having something big in your home break is never a pleasant experience, but A1 was the best possible outcome and I am very pleased with the service we received. Definitely would recommend. Thanks Chuck!

I bought a new house recently and soon found that it had a beat-up garage door that wouldn't close consistently.I also had a really tough situation where I was traveling abroad, leaving on a Monday, and really needed the garage door working consistency for the safety of my family and my peace of mind.Mike came out on a Friday morning, and after walking me through his assessment, I decided it would be best to replace the door, rather than investing in short-term fixes that wouldn't really address the problem long-term.Mike was cheerful and compassionate as he called tons of installers and suppliers, arranged for someone to drive to Detroit to get the door, and personally came with installers (one of whom was his brother) on a Saturday morning, uncompensated.Everyone I talked to was exceptionally thorough as well as clear, and direct about what was the issue and what my options were. There were no hidden fees, everything was priced out including tax and labor so that I could make my decision.You might be able to get a less expensive door somewhere else. But I think it would be extremely hard to find a company that trains their employees so exceptionally well, and who's employees interact with customers with such exceptional kindness and compassion.

Ron was great. Friendly, professional and thorough. It was an unpleasant surprise that the second door was $72, not $30, and that with the “trip charge”, the total was about $140. I failed to read the fine print. I just assumed the second door would be the same as the first. Ron explained it to me before proceeding, It left a bad taste nonetheless. Not Ron’s fault. I should have asked when I made the appointment and/or your phone rep could have explained the details when I made the appointment.

Jerry was excellent. He was quick and knowledgeable, and he didn’t try to sell me up on a lot of extras. I enjoyed chatting with him while he worked. Regarding the cost, I know everything is expensive these days, but this gave me some serious sticker shock. In addition to the new springs, it turned out that my lifting cables and brackets were dangerously rusted. I doubt if those parts cost any more than $25 retail, but it was $267 to have them installed. I simply don’t understand that. Jerry did apply a military discount, which I appreciated.

We had a garage door spring snap on our garage. We called A1 and they were able to get someone out the next day.Paul arrived a few minutes before his estimated time and got right to diagnosing the issue. He showed me that other than the snapped spring, there’d were numerous other issues that needed to be addressed, mainly some fraying cables and a bent bar that the springs mounted to. He explained the importance of replacing these parts, and then explained how replacing some other parts would lead to smoother and quieter operation. On my own I figured that smoother and quieter probably also mean longer lasting. We decided to replace most of the recommended parts, and Paul got right to work.In sub-20 degree temperatures he worked nonstop for nearly three hours. After finishing up he showed me all of the changes, demonstrated how well the door functions now, and showed me how badly frayed one of the cables was and explained how one of these snapping can cause damage to vehicles, other parts of the house, or worse yet injure someone.I was impressed with the speed and thoroughness of the service that A1 provided.As a side note, Paul was great. He was personable and friendly. I enjoyed speaking to him quite a bit. I couldn’t have asked for a better installer.I recommend A1 to anyone that needs garage door work.

I was totally satisfied with the work performed on my garage door. The technician arrived timely, installed a new metal attachment to the bottom of my door, and installed a new rubber liner on the bottom of it. He adjusted the door and performed maintenance on it, so it now closes more quietly, and it is now snug fitting to the concrete floor. He also explained future work that may be needed at some point. I will definitely call A1 Garage for my future maintenance needs.

My entire experience with A1 was fantastic from the moment the automated phone system answered. (Have you called it? I’ve never heard one so cheerful!) Michelle answered and was so helpful and friendly. She scheduled me for the next day. Then I got a call from the local dispatcher (?) to see if I could meet today in the later afternoon. That worked, so I met Paul at our house. Paul was very kind and professional, and did such a great job explaining what would have to happen to *fix* the doors we currently have, and the difference in cost and life expectancy to replace them. After taking some measurements and pictures, Paul got Sam on the phone to talk pricing. Sam was very helpful and did a great job explaining some options to me. Really impressed with A1's service - our garage door motor failed and majorly damaged our door. I picked A1 based on the positive reviews in my area and loved that I was able to schedule online and give them information beforehand. There were even same-day appointments available. I received a text saying our tech, Paul J was coming, and they sent over a photo for safety as well. I also received a call from Paul when he was on his way. Paul was patient with all of my questions and gave us solutions within minutes. Unfortunately we needed an entire new door, but within half an hour he had taken measurements, gave us instructions on how to deal with the current broken door in the interim and found the door we wanted in stock. The sales tech jumped on the call quickly and went through all of our options with us - they even waited for my husband to finish up in a meeting so that he could join us. We were able to grab a Saturday install date of the same week as the visit, which we did not expect. Not a fun thing to be told you need an entirely new garage door, but Paul made everything easy to understand and we trust that we're getting the right solution for us at a reasonable price with a quick turnaround time.

Molly at the call center was friendly, efficient, and personable. She was able to schedule a technician visit for two days after my call. Before his arrival, Jerry texted his picture along with letting me know to expect him in about 20 minutes. I was very happy with A1, and especially with our most friendly and skilled A1 technician Craig Clark. Our garage door was not operating correctly and it was bitterly cold outside. Craig came, assessed the door system and made the necessary repair. He also explained to me the mechanics of what was causing the door to not close properly, which I appreciated. This was late in the afternoon, and I learned that Craig had finished his last job of the day and was heading home when he heard the dispatch call asking if any technician could help us. If you are having garage door problems, don’t hesitate to call A1! Thank you again Craig for going out of your way to help.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with this company. While Craig was here to do the initial assessment he set up an appointment for March 3rd to have my new garage door installed. Upon calling numerous times today they had no records of my appointment nor N invoice nor half the money paid. Everyone that I talked to knew nothing until they found out the paperwork was never submitted just today. Them was told I would receive a call from the door Dept to set up a install possibly Friday 4th of March. Still no call and then called back then was informed had to be contacted from original tech before door installation could be set up. Nothing but a complete waste of my time and money. I missed out on work because I was promised an installation date of March 3rd. Furthermore the company was quick to take my money and since then very very poor customer service!!!!! Now was told that the tech will call me at 8AM March 3rd. It seems like all I have gotten is the run around. Was transferred to the door dept and no one to take the call. My initial part of the review was from the time while the tech was here on the original visit. Since then I would not recommend this company to family or friends EXTREMELY VERY DISAPPOINTED AND DISSATISFIED!!!!!!

On 02/25/22 my garage door tract had a piece break. I called a company who I had done business with 10 years ago.They wanted a $300 emergency trip charge or I could wait until Monday. did not even bother to ask about their other charges.I called A1 Garage Door Service on 02/26/22 and they said someone would come out the next day. Steven L, the technician called when he was on the way and arrived right on time. He was knowledgeable and professional. He did the job right and reprogrammed my vehicles connection to the new opener. He made me aware of a coupon offer that saved me money. I would highly recommend A1 Garage Door Service and Steven L. In my book that was 5 star service.
