Millions of children around the world die each year from preventable causes, such as pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria and undernutrition. Hunger remains a leading causing in death for children under 5.
Earlier this month, our training class of service technicians and installers stepped up to help fight hunger by volunteering at Feed My Starving Children in Mesa, Arizona. A Christian nonprofit, FMSC is dedicated to seeing every child whole in body and spirit by working with food distribution partners that stay with communities long-term, empowering them to move from relief to development.
Working with volunteers from other organizations, our team helped package 78 boxes of rice and grains, which will provide 16,848 meals. That’s enough to feed 46 children for a year.
“It really is a team-building experience. It bonds the guys together,” said Travis Rackley, A1 Garage Door Service training manager. “They’re in a rush to pack as many boxes as they can. We come together as a team and see what we can achieve, and we feel good giving back.”
This volunteer effort was sponsored through our A1 Cares charitable giving program. Each month, our training class completes a service project as a way of giving back to the community that supports us.
